Campaign 2016 {Free Lessons}

With the 2016 Presidential race in full swing, you may be looking for materials that will help you teach your children about the process we go through in electing a president every four years. While there is a wide array of general materials available, C-SPAN has pulled together a series of 10 lessons geared specifically to the 2016 Presidential Campaign — all free.

The ten lessons include video clips, printables, discussion questions, and various activities that introduce students to:

  • The candidates.
  • Their stance on the issues.
  • Political parties.
  • The election process.
  • The electoral college.
  • Campaign finance.
  • Campaign ads.
  • Polls.
  • Debates.
  • Voting.

Some of the student activities include:

  • Choosing a date, theme, and music to announce their own candidacy.
  • Creating a timeline.
  • Writing a persuasive speech.
  • Learning how other countries select a leader.
  • Creating a poster.
  • Conducting a poll.
  • And much more!

A very nicely rounded set of lessons for those following the 2016 election — and it is free!
