Boys and Girls of Colonial Days {Free eBook}

Boys and Girls of Colonial Days by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey, author of Newbery winner Miss Hickory, is a wonderful introduction to American history for young children and a frequently recommended early living history spine.  The book was originally published in 1917 and is available as a free download.

These delightful stories begin with the Pilgrims in Holland, then move through a Puritan log cabin and an encounter with Indians on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas in New England, superstitious “witch” trials, Philadelphia with Benjamin Franklin and the Quakers, to Old Boston and the Revolutionary War, and President George Washington.

Not boring stories at all, nor stories written down to children, but captivating tales of Colonial children that will hold the attention of children today.
