The Finds

Insects Unit Study {Free}

Insects Unit Study {Free}

What better time of year to explore the world of insects than summer?  After all, you can find them everywhere! “Insects Everywhere!” is a free unit study from Jodie Wolfe that appeared in the July/August 2013 Home School Enrichment magazine.  (Just enter page 38 in the navigation box at the bottom. Free registration required.)

The unit study starts by telling a story of a locust invasion in Kansas in 1874.  Yikes!

You will then:

  • Visit with Moses in Egypt.
  • Determine which bugs are pests and which are helpful.
  • Explore insects’ senses.
  • Discover what types of bugs are in your area.
  • Learn what diseases bugs carry.
  • Learn about cicadas.
  • Label a grasshopper.
  • Enjoy several other investigations.

Activities include:

  • Scripture memorization.
  • Research.
  • Writing.
  • Narration.
  • Observation.
  • Charting.
  • Drawing.
  • Painting.
  • Origami.

Field trip suggestions and interesting facts are also included.

This is a well-rounded and interesting study for those looking for a way to ease back into a homeschooling routine.  A perfect resource for the DIY homeschool mom!
